Surprise! Five Nights at Freddy’s 6 (or rather Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator) was suddenly dropped this week, and we’ve got some gameplay footage for your to check out.
Series creator Scott Cawthorn released the sequel/spin-off on December 4, and the internet went insane. And best of all, this installment is 100% free to download.
The new game is bit more varied than previous series installments, as it now requires you to run a Fazbear’s Pizzeria as a owner/operator. So we’ve got some serious resource management going on in addition to avoiding those horrifying jumpscares.
Polygon has more on Cawthorn’s secrecy, and what ultimately lead to Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator…
Cawthon signaled the release of Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria Simulator back in June, when he said that he’d effectively stopped working on a sixth Five Nights at Freddy’s game.
“For the last month or so I’ve been dropping hints about a new game; and it’s true that I’d been working on one (call it FNaF 6 if you’d like.)” Cawthon said. “But after forcing myself to keep working on it day after day, I realized something: I just don’t want to work on this. With each game’s release, I think the expectations get higher and higher for the next, and rightfully so. Each game SHOULD be better than the last! But that pressure starts to mount, and I fear that I’ve been neglecting other things in my life for the sake of trying to keep up with those mounting expectations.
“So, after giving this a lot of thought; I’ve decided that I’m going to stop working on it. I’m not going to reveal anything else about what the game was, and I’ve asked other people involved to never divulge anything either. It’s just not going to be talked about.”
The game is a lot of fun, and has much more depth than just being a series of jumpscares. You can FNAF 6 for free on Steam here.
