‘Welcome to Jurassic… World.’

‘Jurassic Park 4’ is now ‘Jurassic World.’

Wow, now if that doesn’t sound like a theme park tie-in I don’t know what does.

Yes, they’re making another Jurassic Park. No, really… they are! And this isn’t just a park… no, it’s an entire world. Or something.

USA Today says…

Steven Spielberg brings his long-awaited next installment of the Jurassic Park series to theaters June 12, 2015. It also has a name — Jurassic World — Universal Pictures announced on Tuesday.

Colin Trevorrow has been tapped to direct the epic action-adventure from a draft of the screenplay he wrote with Derek Connolly. It will be shot in 3-D.

The filmmakers have already promised new dinosaur villains for the fourth installment of the franchise. The first three films in the series have taken in $1.9 billion at the box office.

Of course, there’s another dinosaur-flavored “World” we can’t forget about…

Ten and Eleven in ‘The Day of the Doctor’

So the official poster for the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary special has been revealed. It’s titled “The Day of the Doctor.”

Ten and Eleven. In the same TARDIS.

And, oh, John Hurt too. (He’s rumored to be a forgotten incarnation of the Doctor… 8.5 I hear.)

So who else is excited?

Mia’s Journal: Entry #49

Diary of a Teenaged Girl

May 20th

Happy Birthday to me!

Hoping school is drama-free today. I just want to enjoy my day.

Mom is picking me up after school. Grandma is getting Michael, so I don’t have to deal with him until later.

Today is already great!

Yes, PrintNinja is that good.

Last fall we self-published Shadowbinders: Book One.

After searching for an economical (but also high-quality) printing solution, we contacted PrintNinja. At that point they hadn’t done a lot of comic book jobs, but I was bowled over with their print samples and extremely easy-to-use self-service quoting, so we gave them a shot.

And I’m so glad that we did.

PrintNinja delivered some truly exceptional offset books to our doorstep about six weeks from the day we signed off on the proof. And that was with a port strike. Communication was never an issue, and our rep kept us posted on every step of the process. It was definitely a positive experience for us.

I normally don’t endorse products or services on our blog, but we’ve been singing PrintNinja‘s praises lately. We’re always complimented on the quality of the books, and we’ve had dozens of other creators asking about our printer since debuting the books last December.

So to answer the many people that have asked us: Yes, we’d recommend PrintNinja wholeheartedly to anyone.

They’ve since started up an entire division devoted to printing comics and graphic novels, and you can get a quote here.

So check ’em out if you need to print your Kickstarter project, and tell ’em Shadowbinders sent you.

Meet Acacia. The real-life inspiration for Acacia, that is. In this podcast, we’ll be talking to Acacia about the origin of Marek’s loligoth hench wench, Team Rocket and the Pokemon drinking game, young adult literature, and evil babies. Also, stick around for more post-credit shenanigans!

Your coffee is bad and you should feel bad.

Every woman knows that the key to keeping Hubby happy is a good cup of Joe.

(No, no, no… not a dude named Joe. That could get complicated.)

Back in the 1960s, Folgers ran a series of commercials showing Hubby insult and berate Wifey over her bad coffee. He even threatened to get better coffee from the secretary — read into that what you will.

Quick! Someone call Juan Valdez… or a divorce attorney.

“Now that we’ve fixed your coffee, dear… get back in the kitchen and make me some PIE!”

Haunted Mansion: From ride to… purse?!

There’s a Haunted Mansion purse coming from Dooney & Bourke.

And yes, Kam is all about this one.

From the Disney Parks blog

Today, I’m happy to share a first look at one of my new favorites – a Haunted Mansion-inspired bag by Dooney & Bourke! Whether you are a high-fashion “happy haunt,” or a new Dooney & Bourke collector, it’s probably safe to say, there’s always room for one more bag!

Fittingly, the purse goes on sale on Friday, September 13th and will retail for $330.00.

Star Wars Episode VII: Casting Call

A casting call has gone out in New York for what are (presumably) the three leads in Star Wars Episode VII.

This gives us a glimpse at what kind of leads we can expect. It sounds to me like they’re trying to replicate the Luke/Han/Leia dynamic from the original trilogy. (Not that that’s a bad thing!)

Here’s what they’re looking for…

[YOUNG MAN] Early 20s. Handsome, but not necessarily heroic. He is witty and smart. Physically fit.

[MAN] Late 20s. Physically fit, handsome and confident.

[YOUNG WOMAN] Late teens. Physically fit, raw energy, independent and with a great sense of humor.

But the real question is: “Will Ben Affleck be in it?”

Mighty No. 9: It’s like Mega Man, but it’s not.

Want a new Mega Man game?

While Capcom is “having discussions” about a new game, Mega Man series creator Kenji Inafune and a crew of Mega Man veterans are Kickstarting a very similar style platform game called Mighty No. 9.

And… dang. Does it look like it could be truly excellent.

Check out some of the screen shots…

mighty-no-9-Cmighty-no-9-Bmighty-no-9-AFrom the Kickstarter campaign page…

Mighty No. 9 is an all-new Japanese side-scrolling action game that takes the best aspects of the 8- and 16-bit era classics you know and love, and transforms them with modern tech, fresh mechanics, and fan input into something fresh and amazing!

You play as Beck, the 9th in a line of powerful robots, and the only one not infected by a mysterious computer virus that has caused mechanized creatures the world over to go berserk. Run, jump, blast, and transform your way through six stages (or more, via stretch goals) you can tackle in any order you choose, using weapons and abilities stolen from your enemies to take down your fellow Mighty Number robots and confront the final evil that threatens the planet!

Every aspect of development—art, level design, music, programming, etc.—is being handled by veteran Japanese game creators with extensive experience in the genre, and with Mega Man in particular, all the way up to and including the project’s leader, Keiji Inafune himself! Backers will have unprecedented access to seeing this team at work through blogs, podcasts, videos, concept art—the works!

Beck… Rock… same diff, right?

Point is, the game looks awesome and you might want to check it out.

Now, if Capcom would only Kickstart a new Mega Man Legends game.
